Some people have super interesting abilities and can do things with their own bodies that others can’t. These are not very impressive activities; it’s actually simple things like moving your ears or raising an eyebrow. But, surprisingly, not everyone can.
O awesome.club found some different bodily functions that most people just can’t do. Check out what they are right now.
1. Isolate the ring finger
Most people tend to bend their ring finger slightly when they move their little finger. Some people can isolate it, but according to research, this is a hereditary ability.
2. Touch your nose or chin with your tongue
Most people’s tongues aren’t usually very long, but some people can actually touch their nose, or even their chin, with the tip. This is known as the Gorlin sign. Only 10% of the world’s population has this ability.
3. Move ends in opposite direction
Check out this experiment. Move your right foot out and then move it clockwise. Now try writing the number six with your thumb. You don’t need a pen and paper, just write the number in the air with your toe.
Most people, almost without realizing it, start moving their foot in the opposite direction. In part this happens because the number presents an anti-clockwise direction. Some people are exceptions to this rule.
4. Move the nose from side to side
Chances are you couldn’t move your nose like Samantha Stephens. Even Elizabeth Montgomery, from the classic The witch, moved her lip to create the illusion that her nose was moving. However, some people can move their nose without looking like a witch. You can train starting with the nasal passages.
5. Expel a jet of saliva
When the tongue moves forward, some people accidentally shoot a stream of saliva. This is called ‘gleeking’ and it’s an advanced form of spitting. The phenomenon could be caused by strong salivary glands, or even by certain foods, such as lemon. O gleeking is a term known for a long time, it appears even in Shakespeare’s plays.
6. Sneeze with your eyes open
Cranial nerves connect the nose and eyes. As a result, when we sneeze, we automatically close our eyes. This usually happens automatically. However, it is possible to sneeze with our eyes open, despite the belief that if we do, our eyeballs will fire.
7. Fold the tongue in half
Folding the tongue in half is quite common, but not everyone can do it. Some people are able to do even weirder tricks, for example bend their tongue in more parts.
8. Tickle ourselves
In general, it is almost impossible to feel ticklish alone. This is because being tickled is often associated with surprise: the brain captures the sensations and controls them before they affect the body. Still, it’s not impossible. People with schizophrenia can tickle themselves because they don’t realize that the sensations are voluntary.
9. Bend the thumb back
Some people have a double-jointed thumb, also known as a ‘autostopist’s thumb’, which allows it to be bent backwards.
Doing so doesn’t hurt and doesn’t pose any risks for him. In some cases, a person’s two thumbs can look like this; in others, just one.
Can you do these things? What is your special skill? Share in the comments so people can try it too.
