9 Signs that the Body Can’t Digest Meat Properly

For many people, it’s hard to resist the temptation of a well-done steak or a juicy burger. While meat is packed with nutrients, it also contains a lot of natural chemical toxins, saturated fats, and elements that can make digestion difficult. Eating too much of this food can result in consequences for our health, from increasing the risk of diabetes, to causing heart disease and even cancer.

O awesome.club investigated the signs that warn us that our digestive system is not processing meat well and that it would be good to reconsider a diet change. Let’s get to know these problems.

Remember to always look for a doctor if you feel any discomfort or realize that there is something wrong in your body.

9. Constipation

We all have different digestive systems, which are based on our genetics and our eating habits. Depending on the cut of the meat, some are very high in fat and take longer to be digested by the body. That’s why they can cause indigestion the next day. Constipation can be the result of high iron content, which is normally found in red meat (beef, pork, or lamb). In addition, it is low in fiber, essential for regular bowel movements.

Tip: Some studies reveal that eating a lot of red meat (and especially sausages) can increase the chances of developing bowel cancer. Try to eat it in moderate amounts (100 grams to 200 grams twice a week), accompanied by lots of vegetables or grains. Also try to avoid certain parts, such as the liver or kidneys, and switch to seafood or chicken, choosing cooked meat instead of fried meat if appropriate.

8. Constant feeling of hunger

If you feel hungry all the time, even though you’ve just eaten, it could mean you’re consuming too much protein, which could be at the expense of carbohydrates. And if there aren’t enough carbohydrates in your body, your blood sugar drops and you don’t produce serotonin, a chemical that regulates your mood and makes you feel hungry.

Tip: If you find yourself feeling hungry all the time, try eating Greek yogurt with fruit or hummus with whole-grain crackers instead of a sandwich. Try to avoid meat for a few days and you will see how you feel better.

7. Dark circles

Don’t be fooled into thinking dark circles are a result of lack of sleep or fatigue. It turns out that not digesting meat properly can damage its beauty. If you notice that you have a lot of dark circles under your eyes (especially after consuming meat), this is a sign that the product has not been digested well.

The lining of the intestine accepts the meat and allows it to pass through the intestinal wall and go directly into the bloodstream without being digested. So it is considered by the body as something invasive or “strange”. The body will try to produce certain antibodies, to eliminate these foreign substances and the reaction to this can be dark circles, a symptom that is usually ignored by health professionals.

6. High blood pressure

If you have high blood pressure, this could be a sign that it’s time to cut back on your meat consumption. Processed meats contain a high level of sodium because they are usually cured, seasoned and preserved in salt. In addition, chicken skin and red meat are rich in saturated fats. All this can lead to worsening hypertension and even the development of coronary heart disease.

Tip: Try to reduce the amount of meat consumed by eating more vegetables. If you can’t resist, try switching to lean meats and seafood, as they are generally lower in fat.

5. Bad breath and bad body odor

Having bad breath and bad body odor are signs that your body is not digesting meat properly. If it is not digested well, a bad smell will leave the digestive system and eventually pass to the skin and into the breath. If you have these nasty problems, try using digestive enzymes to help digest the meat so it doesn’t build up in your intestines.

4. Weak immune system

When your body doesn’t digest meat well, you can get sick more often than usual, as your immune system can be affected by the natural sugar (called Neu5Gc) found in red meat, and it’s very difficult for our bodies to digest it. . This sugar is usually produced by carnivorous animals and allows them to maintain their meat-based diet. Our bodies don’t produce it and that’s why it ends up being treated like a foreign substance, triggering a toxic immune reaction. This reaction can cause many other problems, and cancer is the most serious.

Tip: Try to consume more nutritious foods such as quinoa, nuts, legumes, vegetables and fruits. These provide essential antioxidants, fiber and protein, all of which supply your body with macro and micronutrients. So if you have to eat meat, make sure you balance your diet with healthy foods like the ones mentioned above in the form of a salad or as a side dish. Don’t forget to include some exercise and plenty of vitamin D to help boost your immune system.

3. Fatigue

If, after eating meat, you feel tired or lazy, don’t let this go unnoticed, as it could mean that your body is not digesting this food, which ends up getting stuck in your intestines. When this happens, all the energy is diverted to your digestive system. You also feel like you’ve been carrying something like a brick in your abdomen for days. If this happens, it’s time to completely change your diet and eat fresh, raw vegetables, fruits, and smoothies.

2. Nausea

Nausea is a common symptom when the body does not digest meat well, as it can also be a reaction to certain bacteria in that food. Some pregnant women experience nausea when eating meat. This could be because some organ in the body is rejecting this food and working harder than usual to carry out the process.

Tip: If switching to salads does not help reduce nausea or if you happen to experience spasms between 4 to 26 hours after eating meat, see a doctor immediately.

1. Swelling

Meat products are the most difficult foods for the human body to digest because the protein contained in meat (especially red meat) is more difficult for our body to break down and this leads to bloating. Large amounts of fat in food cause the stomach to empty more slowly, which causes discomfort. Incorrect digestion can lead to the accumulation of toxins in the body.

Tip: Change your diet from meat to fish or chicken. These animal products are easier to digest. Also, consume vegetables (cooked or raw) as a side dish or salad. If you stop eating meat, you will likely get rid of bloating for good.
