Nostalgia, according to dictionaries, is longing for something or someone that no longer exists or that we no longer have. And it can appear in many ways, one of them through products that refer us to a past that can be childhood or adolescence. Brands that we consume or remember, and send us back to a phase of happiness.
O awesome.club, who already talked about the nostalgia of those who were a child in the 1980s, now went after products or brands that no longer exist — some of them are still marketed in other countries. And it has everything from ice cream to bank to toothpaste.
Yopa and Gelato
They were two of the most famous brands of sorteve in the country, but in 2000 they ended up disappearing to become Nestlé, as the company owned both and wanted to have more strength against Kibon.
Chambourcy
Famous yogurt brand in the 1980s, but Nestlé, which owns the brand, took it off the shelves.
Ping pong
The chewing gum brand was also well known for its sticker albums during the World Cup. It ended up leaving the market in the 2000s.
crush
Yeah, there was a time when Crush was a soda brand similar to Fanta.
pampering
It was such a relevant toy manufacturer, especially in the 1980s, that it even made the official Xuxa doll.
Jumbo Electro
A large department store of the Pão de Açúcar group. It turned Electro and then the brand disappeared.
Bizz
In the 1980s and 1990s, anyone who loved music had a must-read in Abril’s magazine. It ran until 2007.
National
The bank became famous for having accompanied Ayrton Senna for almost his entire career, both with the brand stamped on his overalls and helmet and on the blue cap that the Brazilian always wore. After having financial difficulties in the 1990s, it was acquired by Unibanco, which, in turn, merged with Itaú.
Bamerindus
The bank’s main brand was the jingle “time passes, time flies and Bamerindus savings continue to be good”. In 1997, after intervention by the Central Bank, it was incorporated by HSBC, whose operations in Brazil were recently purchased by Bradesco.
