7 reasons to ditch the gym and exercise at home or in the park

Do you wake up early every day and super willing to hit the gym? Excellent! You don’t have to (and shouldn’t!) change this habit. After all, exercising regularly is essential for the proper functioning of the body.

However, if that’s not your case, and the gym looks more like a torture room, it might be time for you to consider adopting a new physical activity routine.

Maybe you’ve already tried everything to try to stay strong in training: sleeping in gym clothes, leaving your sneakers by the bed, paying for the entire semester of the gym in advance… of) disposition.

Before you think about giving up exercises for good, give yourself and your health a chance: try getting out of the gym and doing physical activities at home or in the park! Check out the advantages:

1. You can exercise anywhere

You may need to buy some weights to train weights at home, but cardio can be done anywhere, without relying on equipment.

You can walk and run in the park, for example, and even Pilates, yoga or dancing are good options for burning calories without having to go to the gym.

2. You will no longer compare yourself to others

Although gyms are an environment where we should focus on our health, it is often difficult to avoid comparing your performance with the performance of the person on the device next to you.

This unnecessary competition ends up discouraging beginners, who naturally underperform. When exercising at home, your only benchmark is yourself, focusing on being better than you were yesterday.

3. Get rid of the crowds

Except if you go to the gym before 7 am or after 10 pm, it is quite common to find the equipment all occupied due to the great movement of space. In addition to being uncomfortable, you end up wasting time waiting to use the equipment. By exercising at home or in the park, this disorder ends.

4. Save time

Even if the gym is next to your work or your house, you end up wasting time to go there, change, shower, change again and go home.

If you’re already in the environment where you exercise, the excuse of “I’m out of time today” doesn’t work anymore: just put on your sneakers and start.

5. Distract less and earn more

You know: staying at the gym for 2 hours doesn’t mean you’re going to exercise for 2 hours. A lot of that time is wasted going to the cafeteria, chatting with semi-acquaintances, gossiping at the drinker, watching TV…

All of this takes the focus off your exercise and can lead to poorer performance or even an injury from not paying enough attention to your movements. By eliminating these distractions, you will be more likely to just focus on your physical activity, performing it more correctly.

6. Save good money

In times of crisis, we cannot deny that any economy counts a lot when it comes to closing the accounts at the end of the month.

If the money is short to go to the gym, know that you don’t have to adopt a sedentary life. After all, exercising at home or in the park is free!

7. Get in touch with nature

In addition to being essential for the proper functioning of our body, exercises also provide a feeling of relaxation and well-being, contributing to our mental health. But when the gym is a stressful environment, with loud music, lots of mirrors, and extremely competitive colleagues, exercise can become a source of even more anxiety and stress.

When exercising outdoors, in a park or square, for example, you will get in touch with nature and natural light, which are excellent for combating the symptoms of everyday stress – and work much better than the Gym TV with subtitles on, right?

Keep in mind that the gym is not the only place where you can exercise. There are several options outside this environment, and they can even offer some advantages, as you have seen.

However, this does not mean that you should abandon career guidance. Before you start, do a medical evaluation and always have the support of a physical education professional to avoid injuries, okay?
