We have no doubts about how good it is to have puppies at home. They are great companions and it’s a delight to see how happy they are when we come home after a tiring day at work.
However, dog owners usually face some problems, such as the smell of pets that can stay in the house.
You know when you walk into the place and you get that unmistakable smell that there are dogs in the house? So it is. This can happen especially if you let your dog have access to all spaces, such as sofas, beds, cushions.
But you don’t have to worry about that – and don’t ever think about sending your pet away because of details like that, huh? We separate 7 very simple homemade recipes that will help you eliminate unwanted odors from your home.
1. Remove the smell of the carpet with baking soda
You know those products that have a thousand and one uses? Bicarbonate is one of them. As it is a relatively inexpensive product, you can use it at will. Spread over the mat, cover with a tarp and leave overnight. The next day, just vacuum. Bye, smell!
2. Apple Cider Vinegar Cleaning
Vinegar works true miracles in cleaning. When washing your bedding or your dog’s bed, add ¼ cup of apple cider vinegar to the detergent or soap you usually use and then wash as usual. It’s okay to use white vinegar, too, but it doesn’t smell as good as apple vinegar.
3. Make your own odor neutralizer
Super simple homemade recipe: put 1 teaspoon of baking soda and 1 tablespoon of white vinegar in a spray bottle. Add two cups of water and mix well. Ready! Now just spray this mixture in the air, on the rugs, on the sofa and wherever else you want.
4. Refreshing aroma
In the mixture of water, bicarbonate and vinegar, you can add 1/2 cup of orange and lemon peels. The cones bring a great citrus aroma and still prevent your dog from doing their business in places they shouldn’t. Try it!
5. Detergent mix
A combination of dishwashing detergent and vinegar can be a great alternative in your fight against bad smells. Add a tablespoon or two of dish soap to each container of vinegar and use this mixture to sanitize pillows and blankets that have a stronger smell.
6. Removing the urine smell
If your dog has peed in a place it shouldn’t, this is the right recipe to eliminate the smell. Make a combination of lemon juice, water and baking soda. After cleaning the area with soapy water (or your favorite cleanser), apply this mixture.
7. Corn starch as an ally
Still about urine in unwanted places, another suggestion to send the smell far away: make a mixture of white vinegar and cornstarch. Apply on the affected area and let it act for 3 hours. After that, remove the mixture.
In addition to the tips above, it is worth remembering that it is important to regularly clean the spaces where the dog usually stays, in addition to the toys and clothes he uses. This way you will have a happy home free from unpleasant smells!
