There are people who have such a quick mind for greedy attitudes that they are not afraid to say mean words. I buy designer clothes for my relatives, and I get gifts like nail polish and soap. One day, a member of the family asked me to keep some jewelry, saying it was a gift. He said the gift was because he assumed I didn’t have one. And to top it all off, I got a pink lace apron from my mother-in-law. It’s a tradition where I live to eat the top tier of the wedding cake after a year of marriage. So when we got back from our honeymoon, we went to my in-laws’ house to pick up most of the wedding gifts and the cake to be defrosted. I have an uncle who had a strange attitude when giving gifts. At the end of the year, we make a secret friend. For the last year, we’ve used a website to help us. With this tool we can even place what we would like to win. He took his own sister and then, just for fun, instead of giving her what she asked for, he gave her a giant T-shirt, with no print at all. It was all red. Horrible! It was embarrassing.

My mother spent part of her childhood with her father’s aunt. This lady had a strange habit of hiding food. In a drawer she kept bread and other foodstuffs, such as fruit, locked. Time passed and she forgot the things kept there. Out of nowhere she remembered and removed the food from the drawer to be consumed.

I didn’t have a mother-in-law, but on the other hand I had an aunt who couldn’t be worse! She kept telling me what clothes I should wear, how I should eat and behave. I saw several sewing videos and decided to dedicate myself to this, after all I have had a sewing machine since I was 12 years old. I made a shirt and posted the result of my creation. A cousin saw the video and as she is expecting a baby, she wanted me to make the child’s entire wardrobe. I was invited to a cousin’s birthday. It was a special event, a big fancy 50th birthday party. The family was all present. It turns out that my cousin’s sister-in-law was the only one to show up at the event wearing flip-flops, but the worst thing was her attitude, as she didn’t make a point of bringing a present to the birthday girl. I was very embarrassed when I saw this.

I helped a close relative who was going through a delicate financial moment. I got a basic basket for 6 months for her and I also took clothes. One fine day, I overheard her saying that the basket was horrible and the clothes were used, that I might have the decency to give her brand-name food and new clothes.
