And there is no shortage of options for those who want to try exotic ingredients and different options without worrying about their pockets, such as tacos made with caviar, popcorn covered in gold and sandwiches filled with white truffle butter.
O awesome.club created a list of dishes made with selected ingredients, for those who dare to spend a considerable amount just for the pleasure of trying something different. We gather from exotic and creative creations to other very common ones, but made with special ingredients. If you think your taste buds deserve it, enjoy!
1. Alma caviar
This unique caviar is sold by the Caviar House & Prunier store. This is a special variety of the beluga albino sturgeon, originating from the waters of the Caspian Sea in Iran. The can is made of 24-karat gold and costs approximately R$130,000 per kilo.
2. Luxe milkshake
With a rather extravagant list of ingredients, this milkshake promises an explosion of flavors on the palate, but to try it, you have to spend around 530 reais. It is prepared with Jersey milk, vanilla ice cream from Tahiti, cream from England, vanilla from Madagascar and 23 karat gold. The delicacy is from the restaurant Serendipity 3, in New York, and is decorated with Le Cremose Baldizzone (cream made from donkey milk) and Maraschino cherries, all served in a glass decorated with Swarovski crystals.
3. Golden Cristal Donut
The donut, perhaps the simplest sweet bread on the list, can go up to 530 reais if it is filled with Ube, a jam exclusive to the Philippines. It is glazed with Cristal champagne and decorated with 24-karat gold dust and blades, all handmade. The donut was created by Bjorn DelaCruz, a Filipino chef at Manila Social Club, located in Miami, USA.
4. Golden popcorn
Are you usually scared by the value of popcorn sold at the cinema? Then you don’t know Berco’s, where they sell the most expensive popcorn there is. The grain costs 26 reais and the family-sized can (in the American measure of 6.5 gallon tin) comes to approximately 680 reais. The steep price is right, as the popcorn is caramelized with organic sugar, Vermont butter, Laeso salt, and 23-carat edible gold foil. The headquarter is located in Chicago, USA.
5. Civet Coffee
The beans of this type of coffee from South Asia are obtained in a somewhat exotic way. The civet is a mammal, similar to a raccoon, and feeds on coffee fruits. Its digestive system alters the grains, thus providing a highly valued acidity, according to beverage experts. The price of a kilo of this coffee ranges from R$2,300 to R$5,300.
6. Fleur Burger 5000
Although named after a vacuum cleaner, this burger is a true gem created by chef Hubert Keller, from Fleu restaurant, in Las Vegas, USA. The signature sandwich is stuffed with prime ingredients like Kobe beef, Foie gras and black truffle, all on a soft brioche bun. Everything seems perfect, until the check arrives: the snack costs R$ 26,000.
7. Quintessential Grilled Cheese
This BRL 1,100 sandwich is also on the menu at Serendipity 3, in New York. It is made with French Pullman bread, made with Don Perignon champagne, stuffed with gold foil, white truffle butter and a very rare cheese called Caciocavallo Podolico.
8. Zillion Dollar Frittata
This dish, which costs R$5,300, is actually an omelet made with six eggs, Seruga caviar and Maine lobster tail. The exclusive creation is on the menu at Norma restaurant, at Le Parker Meridien Hotel, in New York, USA. The menu also offers a sandwich version for 530 reais, in case you want to save a little.
9. The most expensive chocolate in the world
Attimo Chocolate Zurichl, located in Zurich, Switzerland, created the so-called “La Chorusa”, a chocolate that entered the Guinness Book (Book of Records) as the most expensive in the world. The value of 80 grams reaches 640 Swiss francs, about R$ 3,500. It is made with Swiss saffron, candied orange and Chuao chocolate from Venezuela.
10. Black diamond ice cream
The ice cream, for R$4,300, has several ingredients and details that end up raising its value. Scoopi Cafe, located in Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates, sells the Black Diamond flavor (Black Diamond, in Portuguese) in an edible cup and spoon, designed by stylist Versace. The ice cream is made with vanilla and Italian black truffle, decorated with Iranian saffron and 23-karat gold leaf.
11. Juuni Ban
It’s hard to imagine a hot dog on the menu of luxurious dishes, but Juuni Ban by Tokio Dog, located in Tokyo, Japan, offers one for around 900 reais. Its preparation is quite elaborate: it contains smoked cheese sausage, Teriyaki butter, roasted onion, Maitake mushrooms, Wagyu beef, Foie grasblack truffle, caviar and mayonnaise from Japan.
12.24K Pizza
Certainly there is no such thing as a delivery for this pizza served at the Industry Kitchen restaurant, in New York, for approximately R$10,500. The dough is dyed black with squid ink and covered with caviar, Foie grasimported Stilton cheese, truffles and an edible gold foil.
13. The most expensive putter in the world
The restaurant at the Hotel Grand Velas in Los Cabos, Mexico held a charity auction of the world’s most expensive taco. The winner took a tortilla with very special ingredients: made from corn with gold and shrimp stuffing, Kobe beef, Almas caviar and black truffle brie cheese. The delicacy was served with morita pepper sauce, civet coffee and Ley 925 Ultra Premium Añejo tequila. The winner of the auction paid around BRL 132,000 for the delicacy.
14. Potato La Bonnote
Potatoes are generally used as a basic and inexpensive ingredient in many recipes except this one. La Bonnote is grown on the island of Noirmoutier in France, where the fields are fertilized with algae from the sea that surrounds the island. They can cost R$ 2,800 per kilo.
15. Fortress Stilt Fisherman Indulgence
The base of this dessert, served at the Fortress Resort and Spa in Sri Lanka, is an Italian cassata, flavored with Baileys Irish cream. It must be ordered in advance and costs BRL 76,000. It has a mango and pomegranate compote and a sabayon champagne sauce. The dessert is adorned with gold leaf and comes with an 80-carat seawater gemstone, which sits on the chocolate stilt with the image of a fisherman. It is accompanied by handmade and personalized glass cutlery.
