14 Photoshopped Images That Look Very Real

Every day, thousands of photos are published on the Internet. If they are very interesting, in just seconds they are shared by millions of users on social networks, thus becoming viral. However, after a while, people end up finding out that some of them are fake. For example, a cliff in the form of an elephant or a hermit crab that lives in a human skull.

Today, we awesome.club we decided to dig up the viral internet images that turned out to be fake. For this, we selected 14 popular photos. Watch this post until the end!

1. Hermit crab that lives in a human skull

2. Exhibit of a stingray captured by Captain A. L. Kahn in 1933

With this title, this photo appeared on the Internet, and millions of people were amazed by the enormous size of this representative of stingrays. The title is almost true, except for one thing: it’s a plaster model of a stingray. Similar models were made by James Bell in 1917 for the American Museum of Natural History. Below, you can see a photo of the sculptor at work.

Yes, it’s true that there are stingrays as big as this one, really giants. One of them was captured by Captain Jay Gould off the coast of Florida in 1932. The photo below shows the moment when the animal was tied with ropes: its flabby body had many folds and the fins were bending under the weight.

The fact is that Captain Kahn decided to go with his stingray on tour across the United States to show people this gigantic fish never seen before. But traveling for two years with the corpse of a stingray was not possible. For this reason, a plaster model of the stingray was made.

3. Leopard with Heavenly Eyes

4. Europe at night seen from space

No, this is not a photograph of Europe at night from space. This is the visualization of the geolocation of data published on Flickr and messages on Twitter. The red dots mark the location of users who upload images to Flickr, while the blue ones represent the location of users who leave messages on Twitter. In 2011, Eric Fisher created a complete album with similar maps. Fisher does this so that his maps encourage people to get out on the streets of their cities and explore them. “I want people who have the possibility to see my maps to find out why some places become popular while others don’t”.

5. Jacqueline Kennedy tries to save herself seconds after her husband’s assassination

6. An American boxer fighting a robot

“The sparring between an anthropoid robot and heavyweight champion of the world, Jack Johnson”. This photo can be found on the Internet under this description. But it’s false. Around the year 2000, American artist Paul Guinan drew a robot in this image. Here is the original photo of the fight between Jack Johnson and Marty Cutler.

As you can see, the robot never existed, it is a fictional character from the book Boilerplate: History’s Mechanical Marvel, which describes the adventures of a mechanical soldier.

7. Eight Rainbows Seen in Lehigh County, Pennsylvania

Even though there are double, triple and even quadruple rainbows, the picture above is fake. The original version looks different.

8. The creators of the company “Harley-Davidson” on their motorcycles

9. Rain shaped like an octopus

In this photo, posted on the Chinese social network Weibo, you can see an octopus falling from the sky. Allegedly, a hurricane hit the Chinese city, bringing with it marine inhabitants. This image was published by dozens of media outlets, such as the New York Post, Maxim, Daily Mail, who did not suspect that it was fake news. However, it turned out to be a hoax. The image was created and an image of an octopus silhouette was added to it. It is possible to compare the “octopus” in the image below and the one in the false image. No comments.

10. A storm approaches a beach in Florida

This photo recently became popular on Reddit and Instagram for allegedly capturing subtropical storm “Alberto” approaching Pensacola Beach in Florida. But it’s not a real image, but a combination of several, taken by a photographic artist named Brent Shavnore. He himself explained on his Facebook page how it was developed, combining several different images.

Incidentally, this is how the beach looked when the storm hit.

11. The paw of an unknown animal

The description of this photo, which was posted on Facebook in March 2018, said that a camera accidentally recorded the hideous legs of an unknown animal in Alabama. In addition, the publication also stated that the owner of the private property on which the camera was located lost 5 goats in 5 weeks.

In fact, the photo with this false description appeared on the Internet a long time ago: it was published on Instagram in October 2015, with the story of a sailor who came across this monster and, surprised, only managed to photograph the paws. Furthermore, the image was used to illustrate similar stories about a strange creature, which allegedly lived in India, Brazil and Hawaii.

So which creature appears in the photo? It can be said that it is a dog suffering from mange. A very similar image was posted on Flickr by the Faculty of Medicine and Veterinary Sciences at the University of Nottingham (UK). In it, you can see a dog with mange.

12. A supermoon on a satellite dish

It looks impressive, but it is an edited photo: the moon has been added to the satellite dish. Photo artist Chris Pegman admitted that this is a “heavily edited photo”.

13. The camel that lost part of its body when stepping on a mine

According to the description in the photo, this camel from Saudi Arabia lost half of its body and survived a land mine explosion. After the unfortunate event, surgeons performed a miracle, leaving all the vital organs in the front part of the animal’s body.

Tens of thousands of people believed this story and shared it. But no matter how believable it may seem, it is false. Below we can see the original photo of the camel.

14. Elephant shaped cliff

On the Internet, the image of a cliff that looks a lot like a frozen elephant has become very popular. However, the location of this wonder of nature was not mentioned anywhere. And all because it is a montage, made by the Polish artist Mirekis. He associated 3 photos in one and made millions of Internet users admire this “creation of nature”.

By the way, below are the photos that the photographer used to create his masterpiece.

Mirekis also posted this image on his page, 500PX, full of similar work. There, by the way, he describes it with words like “surreal”, “fantasy” and “photomontage”.

Have you come across any of these pictures on the Internet? If so, which ones did you believe?
