Some soap opera protagonists flee the archetype of kind and innocent young women. Certain authors have exploited the flaws of their young girls, who assume character flaws and do whatever it takes to get what they want. Often motivated by a desire for revenge, these heroines won over audiences by facing their enemies head on.
Today the awesome.club recalls who are the main characters of TV plots that were not as nice as others we are used to seeing. Check out!
1. Nina (Brazil Avenue🇧🇷
Brazil Avenue, a soap opera aired by Globo in 2012, is one of the most emblematic works of Brazilian television drama. In the story, little Rita (Mel Maia) is abandoned in a dump by Carminha (Adriana Esteves), the ruthless stepmother who stole her deceased father’s inheritance. Years later, as an adult, the girl assumes a new identity and promises to execute a great revenge against her tormentor.
Renamed as Nina (Débora Falabella), the protagonist of the plot spared no effort to put her plan into practice. Aiming to make the villain pay for what she did, she acts relentlessly. The vigilante cuts Carminha’s hair and turns her into a kind of servant, forcing the vixen to obey everything she is ordered to do. A young lady who has nothing to do with sound!
2. Clear (The Other Side of Paradise🇧🇷
Who doesn’t remember the triumphant return of Clara (Bianca Bin), the protagonist of The Other Side of Paradise🇧🇷 After suffering at the hands of the ambitious Sophia (Marieta Severo), the mother-in-law who planned to destroy her to keep her lands rich in emeralds, the young girl appears “little girl”, determined to take revenge on the wicked woman and all those who helped carry out the terrible plan.
The heroine, with an air of coldness, manages to end the well-being of each of the people who contributed to the villain’s ruse. At the end of the soap opera, which was a hit on Globo between 2017 and 2018, Sophia pays in kind: just like what happened to Clara at the beginning of the plot, the vixen is admitted to an asylum after a judge confirms that she has gone crazy.
3. Bibi (The Force of Wanting🇧🇷
In the first phase of The Force of Wanting, broadcast by Globo in 2017, Bibi (Juliana Paes) is a struggling young lady like many we’ve seen out there. From humble beginnings, she struggles to support her family when she is evicted from her home. But, throughout the novel, we discover that the blind passion for her husband ends up putting the heroine in situations worthy of great villains.
To hide evidence that exposes Rubinho (Emílio Dantas), involved in an illicit scheme, she burns down a restaurant at the request of her beloved. Bibi breaks the law by taking a cell phone into the penitentiary and finds herself involved with bandits after her partner takes command of a criminal faction. No wonder, the protagonist of dubious character earned the nickname “Dangerous”!
4. Blackberry (good blood🇧🇷
Who followed the story of good blood, soap opera at seven on Globo aired in 2013, probably questioned the character of Amora (Sophie Charlotte), the protagonist of the plot. Ambitious, the character spent a good part of the chapters taking advantage of situations to try to gain the attention of Bento (Marco Pigossi).
In one of her tricks, the upside-down young lady exchanged the result of a DNA test on her beloved, so that it could be proven that he was the son of a rich filmmaker. In this way, Bento would be the brother of Malu (Fernanda Vasconcellos), Amora’s rival, and the boy’s heart would be free for the heroine. In addition, she would enjoy a life of wealth with the heir. Not a helpless maiden!
5. Norm (foolish heart🇧🇷
foolish heart, from 2011, begins showing a Norma (Glória Pires) full of qualities. Humble and honest, the nurse works as a caretaker for a rich man. She falls in love with Léo (Gabriel Braga Nunes), the great villain of the Globo soap opera, who has a relationship with the girl only to gain access to her boss’s house and steal the man’s fortune.
When the millionaire discovers that he was robbed, Norma is harshly accused and imprisoned for the crime she did not commit. This is where the character transforms. In jail, she promises to do justice on her own, taking revenge on Leo. After leaving prison, she marries Teodoro (Tarcísio Meira) and causes her husband’s death to keep his inheritance. Good girl, but not much🇧🇷
6. Rita (Lifes in game🇧🇷
In Lifes in game, a plot shown by Record TV between 2011 and 2012, Rita (Julianne Trevisol) and Patrícia (Thaís Fersoza) disputed the love of Francisco (Guilherme Berenguer). And, at the beginning of the soap opera, it was almost impossible not to root for Rita, who proved to be a young woman with an apparently unshakable nature.
But that all changed when the public discovered that she was, in fact, the mastermind behind her rival’s kidnapping. The revelation of the dubiousness of Rita’s character surprised viewers and the actress herself, who did not know that such a big change would happen to the character. According to the author, however, the change was planned from the beginning of the story. As the saying goes: appearances can be deceiving!
7. Xica da Silva
As a slave, Xica da Silva (Taís Araújo) was cruelly exploited and tortured. When she finally gets the dreamed manumission, the young woman marries an influential white man and becomes “sinhá”. Without the shackles of servitude, she vows to get revenge on all the people who have wronged her in the past.
In an emblematic scene of the soap opera, aired by the extinct Rede Manchete between 1996 and 1997, Xica orders that Caetana (Thalma de Freitas), one of her rivals, be beheaded. In another famous sequence, the cold-blooded girl serves the villain of the plot, Violante (Drica Moraes), a feijoada prepared with human meat. It is not surprising that the production provoked so much controversy at the time it was aired.
8. Jezebel
Jezabel (Lidi Lisboa) is the protagonist of the soap opera that bears her name, broadcast by Record TV in 2019. However, despite being the main face of the story, she is far from representing a good-natured young lady. In the plot, based on the scriptures of the Bible, the young woman marries the prince of Israel to get what she most desires: power.
As queen, Jezebel reveals a tyrannical and inhuman behavior, ordering sacrifices and betraying her husband. To top it off, the monarch gives birth and then abandons her own child. So much evil in one person!
9. Ruby
Success of Mexican teledramaturgy, Ruby it was originally shown in 2004 and arrived in Brazil the following year, on the SBT screen. In the plot, a girl of humble origin nurtures the ambition to be rich, while dreaming of the ideal love. Everything seems to be moving forward in Rubi’s (Bárbara Mori) life the moment she meets Alessandro (Eduardo Santamarina), a charming doctor who awakens the young girl’s passion.
However, when the girl discovers that her beloved’s family does not have possessions as she imagined, greed for money speaks louder. She breaks off the relationship and, determined to conquer a luxurious future, attracts the attention of Heitor (Sebastián Rulli), boyfriend of her friend Maribel (Jacqueline Bracamontes). A true “falsiane”!
10. Teresa
Teresaanother work coming directly from Mexico, has a premise very similar to that of Ruby🇧🇷 The soap opera arrived in Brazil in 2015, on SBT, five years after the original broadcast. By not supporting the precarious living conditions that she has, the protagonist of the plot decides to use her beauty to guarantee the financial prosperity that she so desires.
To do this, Teresa (Angelique Boyer) ends her engagement to Mariano (Aarón Diaz), a young man from a poor background who is in love with her. The character wins the attention of Professor Arthur (Sebástian Rulli), a rich man, and keeps out of her way all those who try to prevent her from marrying the boy. With a young lady like that, who needs a villain?
