10 Common Objects That Can Be Used in Survival Situations (Spoiler: Condoms Are More Useful Than You Think)

Have you ever got lost on a hike or gone too far on a trail? There can be many other situations where a person has to struggle to survive. In these cases, there are two ways. Give up or find a way out.

In these situations, sometimes even the simplest objects can represent a way out of these tight spots, as Incrível.club will show in this post.

It may surprise you, but the following pieces may be far more valuable than you thought in poor survival situations and conditions.

1. Credit card

There are few things money can’t buy, and a credit card is never a waste. But there are situations when it’s not about how much you can buy with them. Even in a deserted place without an ATM, they are still useful as the perfect tool for a bee sting or removing a thorn, for example.

Just scrape in the opposite direction of the stinger or splinter.

2. Canned tuna

A can of tuna may not only serve as a food container. The oil used to preserve the fish is enough to burn a candle for 2 to 3 hours. All you have to do is make a small hole in the top of the can, then insert a plain cotton wick and let it soak up some oil until it reaches the top of the wick.

Once that’s done, turn it on. This ‘lamp’ will remain lit for 2 to 3 hours. Oh, and the tuna won’t be damaged if you do this.

3. Lip balm

A lip balm or a candle? Both. A burning candle in a room not only provides light, but also heat. This can be crucial in emergency situations.

A lip balm is usually a must have in any girl’s purse. When you need it, you can light it like a candle, placing a piece of cloth on top; the balm will work as fuel. You may have to wrap the entire pole to prevent it from catching fire. This instant lip balm candle can burn for up to 2 hours.

4. Superglue

Superglue can come in handy in emergency situations. If there is a minor cut that is open or bleeding, all you need to do is apply a thin line as a first aid measure. This will close the wound and prevent it from getting infected. Any bleeding will also be stopped with this method.

But beware: use the glue sparingly. First because it can cause a burning and itching sensation if it gets into the wound. And secondly, you don’t want to further complicate the wound by allowing the glue to get into the deeper layers of the skin.

5. A bra cup

Whenever there is a condition where it is difficult to breathe due to particles, smoke or dust, you can adopt this simple solution. Bra cups can be used successfully to cover your face and prevent drowning.

Experts believe that this can help prevent toxic particles from entering the respiratory system, as the bra cups perfectly cover the mouth and nose. Straps can be tied around your ears to turn it into a hands-free mask.

6. Vinegar

7. Condoms

Condoms are considered essential for obvious reasons. But they have other uses. For example, you can store up to a gallon of water in a condom during emergency situations.

They are flexible yet durable, so they can easily stretch and hold water when there is no means of transporting it from place to place. They also serve an equally opposite purpose. Condoms can be used to keep things dry.

You can cover anything with a condom like a regular plastic bag and even use them as a moisture barrier.

8. Laces

Shoelaces are multifunctional and can sometimes save you from difficult situations. Its most popular use is as a rope to tie between 2 trees or pillars. Any piece of cloth or plastic can be hung up to make a temporary shelter. They can also function as a fishing line if they are attached to a sharp hook that serves as a hook.

You can even start a fire using the powerful shoelaces. This can be done using the bow drill method. The cords should be attached to the bit in such a way that when it moves back and forth it generates hot sparks and ignites the fire. Now you know why most trekking lovers always wear sneakers with laces.

9. Socks

Let’s start by enumerating the uses of socks: they give us warmth and keep us comfortable. What else? Socks act as saviors in difficult situations. They can be used to collect and filter water during extreme survival conditions.

It is possible that the water is not purified, but at least you can eliminate visible impurities and perhaps also some tiny living organisms. You can also use lint from your socks to help light the fire. Or wear them on your hands like gloves when you’re cold.

10. Glasses

Prescription glasses can also help you in troubled situations. The first and most important use is to make a fire using the lenses as if they were magnifying glasses to direct the sun’s rays. All you have to do is take some straw and place it at least 30cm apart. Now, tilt the glasses so that the sunlight focuses on a small spot. Gently blow on the ember until it ignites and the fire is steady.

Another use of lenses: You can reflect the sun through them to create a distress signal. The glasses can also be taken apart and folded to make hooks and tools.
