10 Common Habits That Really Are Bad For You

When we think of bad habits, we usually refer to smoking or eating. junk food, but some of them many of us have and we don’t even realize that they are bad for our body or bother the people around us. Turns out some may be doing more harm than good, like that delicious smoothie that you tasted this morning that contained three bananas.

O awesome.club cares about your health, so we’ve prepared this section to see if you have any of these undesirable habits.

1. Sleep in your clothes

Sleeping in your clothes is really not a good idea. Tight shirts can affect blood circulation and, over time, make you feel very hot and uncomfortable. Even if you don’t wake up, it can disrupt the quality of your sleep.

2. Brush your teeth too hard

You might think that if you brush your teeth hard, they will become cleaner, but that’s not entirely true. Press down enough to feel the brush bristles on your gums. If you crush it too much, you can damage your tooth enamel.

3. Doing several things at once

The stereotype that all women can multitask is not entirely correct. According to research, only about 2% of the population can do this effectively. So don’t try it unless you’re sure you belong in that percentage. Focus on one thing at a time and you’ll soon find that your efficiency will improve.

4. Obsessing over things that are out of your control

5. Catastrophism

Catastrophizing (or thinking that everything could end in tragedy) is the next level from the previous point. If that’s you, trust us when we tell you it’s not the end of the world, no matter what we’re talking about. Constant stress releases a mountain of hormones that are responsible for all sorts of physical and mental health issues like anxiety, depression, gastrointestinal conditions, and even heart disease. Just think of “Hakuna matata” (“No problem”) and find a way to relax.

6. Procrastination or waste of time

Let’s be honest, almost everyone is to blame for putting everything off to varying degrees, but if this habit gets out of hand and you keep putting off your projects and tasks until a day before the deadline, you could be in big trouble at work and school.

7. Negative body language

We’ve all heard the expression “don’t judge a book by its cover”, but in real life, we all trust what we see. In fact, experts believe that most of our communication is based on verbal signals. Analyze yourself and try to see if you have any negative body language habits, such as hunched over, defensiveness, or aggressive eye contact, that could be misinterpreted. If you find yourself doing any of these things, try to actively work to eliminate them.

8. Take painkillers all the time

When not used correctly, pain relievers can cause more health problems than good. For example, excessive consumption of painkillers can leave consequences and sequelae in your body, such as memory problems, mood swings, poor concentration and a slower reaction time. As the effect is gradual, you may not even notice that you are intoxicating yourself with these drugs. Severe abuse of some pain relievers can increase the risk of ulcers and even internal bleeding.

9. Wear high heels or flip-flops every day

High heels are amazing, they make your legs longer and make you feel beautiful and elegant. But keep in mind that wearing them every day for long periods of time can take a toll on you and your legs. When wearing this type of footwear, the lower back is automatically pushed forward and outlines the hips and spine, putting additional pressure on the knees. This means that our body weight is not evenly distributed on our feet.

While flip-flops are the exact opposite footwear to high-heeled shoes, they can also cause serious health problems. As the sole is absolutely flat, your feet may start to flatten out. Insufficient support will cause the heels to slip and put additional pressure on the ankles.

The suggestion is simple. Wear high heels and flip-flops every now and then, not every day. Your body will thank you for it.

10. Replace breakfast with one smoothie

You might think that replacing breakfast with smoothies is a healthier option. But nutritionists warn that the most common recipes for these drinks contain mostly fruit, water and nut milk, which means they have a lot of sugar in one serving. While these products are good for your health, eating too much at the same time will further increase your blood sugar and insulin measurements. In other words, it will make you gain weight. As can be said about many other things, moderation is the key to success.
